Hi all -

I have made a pair of images to use as emitters, possibly to go along with Max's studio props, but they work very well on their own too :)

I photographed a studio strobe and umbrella setup and created an HDRI of it. It does not have the world's longest exposure range, but in my tests it seems to work pretty well and gives a nice realistic reflection.

There is a neutral version and a warm version - they look like this:

These are just jpg versions for reference, but if you want the 2K HDRI versions (not huge, but big enough) just PM me. I'm not posting the links because I'm only interested in sharing them with registered users.

Hi Bret,

I'm very interested in your umbrella pics. Hopefully I can add some to the repertoire as my old man is a (Studio)Photographer and has all the real toys.

I will see if I can't take some pictures when hes back in town.

Greetings from Hamburg

Cool - be great to have more variety in the looks and light quality. I would have liked to have managed to get a longer exposure latitude on that image but the lens only goes so far and that is an old, old strobe so it doesn't have much control either. 2-3 stops range, max.

Hey Bret,

Wow, what fun with these HDR's, they come in very handy with the HDRI Image Kit! Here's a screen grab from a render in progress and the HDR image used for the Environment built from the Umbrella_Daylight_HDRI.hdr

Thanks for the images!

Cheers, Ron

My pleasure.

Glad it's working out well for you - looking forward to seeing the finished render. I'll try and get around to doing a Maxwell test with them too :)
