Hi Everybody,

I'm just reviwing the ''lighting interior pool'' workflow.

- If we are lighting with spots inside, the water geometry should mot touch the light geometry with material on water: 1% AGS + 90% (water wizard) and the water must be a box inside the pool, not a surface plane!!

Is that correct?

We use water plan only for sunlight illumination to simulate +- correct cautics with the displacement applied to the surface geometry!

I'm i correct? Thanks in advance

First look for tutorials on pool and water material with Maxwell...

This is my biggest problem, I had to use another app (Kerkythea) for my last project...
It is supposed to be the next big update for Maxwell, RS2.0 as promised a long time ago.... Dielectrics and lights and caustics...

Also, please tell us your modeling app... For Max, there is a solution using two planes, one with noise modifier....

I've approached the problem in some different ways:

I tried the "real one" which is incredibly slow: a refractive material without ghost layers and the light inside an air space. It would look like it should but you can get to SL20 and still have LOTS of noise in the scene. This comes from the problem of caustics behind dielectric.

Also tried to add a ghost layer to the refractive one which gives a duplicated image of the bottom of the pool (one distorted by refraction and one not).

Also tried to compose two images: one with a refracted layer and one without water and distorting the latter in photoshop.

I'm lately wondering also how would an SSS layer would perform for the water material... not great I guess.

MW 2.0 Where are you!?

To Fernando: You are a POOL master, i just saw your images on your site.....really cool man. I'll be testing with your settings soon and update.

Hi,

After some researches, i can accross the MM01 pdf tutorial magazine on the DOT it site. They state that they used a material called ''Acquagerets'' for their pool water materail. anyidea how to get that for testing cause it seems to be convincing!!! its not available on the databse for download but the author of the material shared it already....Any idea where to get that?
