How can I arrange my materials in the new database so that they are in alphabetical order from top to bottom? Sorry if this is completely mental .

I don't currently have any automated way of doing that, but if you drag a material from where it is and then drop it on the same volume it's already in, it will be placed at the top of the volume. Same goes for dragging a volume to its' parent volume...I'll see about adding something to do this automatically in the future.
