Wow! Great render!

...but I prefer the grass of the "before" one, the "after" one doesn't seems natural... the rest is perfect

Leo,

Great job! I like your revised rendering. If you don't mind me asking, what were some of your settings for the new rendering? How did they differ from your previous rendering? Was it just a matter of the plants and materials? Because it seems like there's more to it.

Also, great job on the roof tile. One thing I did notice: sometimes there is a lapping of roof tiles along the raked edge. Have you tried adding an extra row of tile along it? It would be similar to the ridge tiles you show; it just adds an extra, easy level of detail. (take a look at some of the photos here: http://www.ustile.com/?gclid=CMervZHZ-ZQCFSRaiAoda33b1Q) Are you posting it to the materials website?

Thanks,
Tony

P.S. How is your studying going?

I'm waiting for results of Lateral Forces while I study for Pre-Design... I should get them this week I hope

Well, the before render was done long time ago, so I don't remember the exact particular settings. The plants are the same... although now I added more stuff like the grass, and the Ivy generator.

When I did the first render, we didn't have instances and displacement, so now with the new version of Maxwell, I was able to improve things like the grass and the roof (God bless the instances and displacement   )

I think a great change is the mood/lighting of my project... Before I tried to aim the sun the facade (thinking that it will generate more interesting shadows). However, I have noticed that back-lighting the model with the sun higher up seems to give a nicer effect.

Last thing, now I'm less afraid to add a little more extra details on photoshop

Thank you, I have been developing the roof even further, trying to fix the end conditions... Because we are an Architectural Office and not a 3D office, everything that I do needs to be easy and fast. With that in mind, I think I have developed a solution (I'll be posting pics soon) that it's not too hard to create and gives decent results.

I haven't yet..... but if there is enough interest, I'll do it! :D

This is my final roof test... for now

With this system, I will not be afraid of roof like this one anymore:

Hmm... Travertino? :P

No holes? Or the molds reproduce those too.

So it's more close to what Herve thought: weathered paint.

Also if the tiling of the texture is too obvious you can say it is made with molds.
