Here's a little home project for fun/experience. Clock modeled in Max 2009. Rendered at 4000 px for, uh hmmm, 44 hours on my puny home computer to S.L. 14.5. Lit with Maxwell-made HDRI. I tried different lighting setups, but I still have much to learn about studio setups. I wanted the glass dome cover (which can barely be seen) to have nice lighting reflections. Oh well, here it is:

Comments welcome!
I will probably render it in a scene soon.

Concentric scratches look quite good.

Thanks Tom, I actually spent way too much time trying to get that material right. I tried anisotropy, roughness map, very fine displacement (no way), finally settled on a very high res normal map.

Unfortunately there is no Max 2009 plugin available for Realflow yet. So I will have to wait...

Nice clock Brian. I think your studio lighting could use some refinement, but that's a whole other world (of photography really). It looks very good in any case.

You could be waiting a long while for that RF plugin - it took a long while for the Max9/2008 version to drop. :)

Just finished some new renderings for a hospital renovation in Oklahoma. Here is the old concept rendering I did several months go:

Here are the 2 new renderings:

Some random info:
Each render was rendered with the Ranch at 4000 px. The first one made it to S.L. 19 and the second went to S.L. 16 due to more caustic calculations I guess.
The glass in the scene is high grade wizard preset.
No photoshop, these came straight from Maxwell.
Need to find a better asphalt mxm!

Hi Bubbaloo,

2 nice & clean renders you made there!
I really like the brick textures, POV and sun angle are well chosen, too.
The Grass&plant work looks good as well, although your lawn is quite english...

("After 2000 years of maintenance, my lawn will be quite bearable, I think.") .. if you ever read that episode, you know what happens next...

Now without knowing any details about your client's/principal's needs and preferences I just babble out what came to my mind after looking at them for a while..

I think a sky would be nice, the pure physical sky can give a bit of a "dry" look sometimes.
Maybe it is due to that sky that there are so little reflections on the main building's windows.. it has the slight look as if the blinds are down.

I guess it is also a matter of personal taste how to color people.. imho here they merge too much with the yellow facade material; maybe a bit more grey could differentiate them better?
