wohhaaaaaa  great renders - fantastic precise modeling ... will you give the turntable a system also ?

Of course!

Look at the first posts :) A CD and a pair of speakers will join the turntable
Got some linux issues to solve now though :)

Had to launch testrenders of the rest equipment also :)

Those ones will be updated tomorrow when they are done, and then I'll start to work on a nice scene!

Great work, Patrik!
I love that Nordic Concept!

Thanks KurtS!

The test renders are done now, so I'll start to set up a nice room for the equipment.

OK the room is created, with all the diffusors and absorbing stuff on the walls :)

Here is a quick render of one of the acoustic panels.

10 min render of the room!
I've set some temporary materials, but I've got to run to a meeting now.
I'll let this cook until tomorrow.

I will add some cables and finnish the materials.

I've done a test with white diffusors instead of wood ones.

But you can see the displ artifacts, what was this the result of?
Low bit jpg map for displacement?

wow, nice setup&renders!

..a pitty that we can`t check rendering of that sound layer :D

Concerning the displacement the bit depth is important; just converting to 16bit before gives better results (maybe apply slight blur, too)
but also the base mesh should have more than two triangles, so by default in many applications you get a min poly count mesh for flat planes.
these should be sbdivided with evenly spaced faces.

btw. isn`t that room much too small for those speakers? ..for a setup like that the WAF is way out of scale anyway.. why not go for a more spacious scene with maybe a view to a nice landscape?

..and one thing I just (not)saw on the second look.. the cable mess!..hehe
To make it look real, IMO, you won`t get around modelling that stuff

cheers,
daniel

Remember that the microstation plugin does not create a suitable mesh for displacement. I think these artefacts disappear once you use some mesh tool ("Mesh from element") to make an even/dence mesh before hitting "export to Maxwell"

Ok Ill try to convert it to 16bit!
And yes I'll model the cables :)

My planes that has the displacement texture attathced to them are subdivided...That should be enough right?

Rendering a new one with 16 bits textures for the displacement!
We'll see what the results are in a while...

So, is this a known issue?
