can someone shed some light on the fact of some of these people here getting results twice as fast 30 - 40 % faster that 1.5 ...

is it due top the fact of these users are using XP 64 .....

i am using win xp 32 and have seen no improvement ...

just some info would be great ...

I use XP64 for a pretty long time now, and i haven't noticed any (significant) difference from 1.5 to 1.6, at least in this scene. Maybe these are the people that were experiencing the "64bit-slowdown" in the former version.

1.6 64bit is up to 20% faster then 1.5.1 32bit on XP 64 for me.
If I can compare between 1.5 and 1.6 lists it looks like the highest possible difference on the exactly same system.
Eg. user "opm" and me "mrcz"

And 1.6 helps increase benchmark on Xeon and Athlon X2. Not true for single Quad or Dual Core 2 architecture.

MacPro Octocores have two X5365 Xeons, which are the fastest of Intels 65nm lineup and cannot be bought in stores. No idea why the X5355 setups were faster with Windows (1.5 chart), but now that Maxwell for OSX is up to par with the Windows version, they seem to show their actual raw power.

It seems for now Macs are at the top.
Oh, but your time at the top will be short.
As is always the case, something better is just around the corner.
Ahhhh hahaha! (evil laugh)

The upcoming 45nm Xeons, and of course Ron Martin's "hekkaidecacore" beast
