may be a stupid question, but how are you getting those nice reflections with a straight black background? alpha channel? jedi mind trick?

Hi kyle,

to get the black back ground indeed set your alpha channel, and in the environment tab set your hdr image and disable Background and Refraction.
Just use the Illumination Channel and Reflection Channel, set Disabled Channel Lighting to none, then you get this :wink: :
