hi there
I have just gotten a new MacBook Pro and installed c4d 10.1 on it.
Each time I am starting c4d with the maxwell plugin installed, it just
crashes as soon as I try to open a file... (even before showing the
document dialogue...)

Has anybody experienced this?

kind regards
yves

update: this only happens on my intel mac, the same configuration on a powerpc works without a hitch...

It sounds like you may have another MWR app or plug-in file or parts somewhere on your machine. If so, zip it with a new address and trash the pieces.

Startup with the Cinemaxwell plug is not crasher here. That said, once the MWR "Render Active View" is selected, C4D crashes. This happens in both UB and PPC, although with slightly different details. NL is checking it out.

MacBook Pro, 2.16GHz, 2GB, Mac OS 10.4.9
Cinema 4D v.9.6UB
M~R v1.5.0.2, C4D/M~R plugin update 07.05.31

hmm... I find this very odd. I just installed the machine, so I don't think I have any older version around on this machine (I'll check it out, though).
The behaviour is strange because it only happens if I try to open a file,
as if the plugin had anything to do with opening files...?

And I ask myself if it could be because of my boot camp installation which
is on the second partition of my harddrive. I thought it worked before, though I'm not sure if I have then already tried to open a file...

jsut tried the same thing with c4d 9.6. Here it works. Guess I will just have to stick with the older version. Unfortunatly, c4d 9.6 is not a universal binary, am I correct?

C4D 9.6 has both UB and PPC versions. I keep both on the dock although, I mostly use UB now.

Thank you! Now I remember that I deleted the non-powerpc applications
back when I installed c4d on my old powerbook.

The Cinemaxwell 9.6 plug-in suddenly quit today and for a bit would not allow Cinema 4D 9.6UB to start. Does that sound familiar to you, Yves? What I did was trash the plug and started C4D9.6UB, which worked, then quit it, reinstalled the plug-in and restarted C4D UB. It worked except the MXCL still crashes C4D and now, the MXCL window does not open.

I have to use C4D ppc if I want to use the MXCL. PPC crashes C4D like it does to the UB but the MXCL opens and I can monitor the process.

I have sent NL a description of the issues and a C4d file for their review.

Hmm, yep, that seems to be familiar. Wonder what is the issue here.
Will you inform us if you here anything from nextlimit please?

I will do that, Yves.

hmm, I just reinstalled c4d 9.603. The PowerPC version runs just fine,
but the universal application crashes at startup (the status in the bottom
left corner of the startup window says "initializing shortcut resources".

is this only happening to me? as soon as I move the maxwell plugin
out of the plugins folder, c4d works great...

Yves, I sent you a pm.

It's the newest one, 2.4 Ghz Intel core duo, 2 GB RAM.
I do think it is a problem with the universal version of c4d.
both intel versions 9.6 and 10 are having problems here.
