I'm sorry it makes you feel bad - we are working hard on the next version of MW and we will release it when it's ready, as soon as possible. We want to give you something impressive, something great that will be an improvement for all of you, so we will take the time we need to do that. Thanks for your patience guys.

Cheers,

Nicole
Hi Nocole,
Sorry for mistyping, i meant "sad" =)
It is good to hear something great is planned, hope it would be worth waiting for 8 months.
Personally, i would sign NDA if i was given a chance to be notified about the development progress, new features etc. And i think many of us would do it too.
The thing is really that simple, with such politics as NL has, you can release a v1,2 Maxwell in 2009 with only a different splashscreen and you would break no promises.
It is cool for you, you are safe, when working like this. But for us... We know NOTHING about the update. We do not know is it WORTH waiting for.
Do not get me wrong, i am a maxwell fan :)))
Still hoping for the best!

Cheers,

Boris.

I totaly agree with You Boris. It sucks that we dont have a clue what to expect. It really really sucks.

Thats the worst part with NL. I would rather have an updated "This is what we are working on right now"-List that we can take a look at, to see what we can expect in the next release. I would be glad if that list was updated with "Sorry, This will not be in the next release". Then atleast, I dont stumble around in the dark. :?

In my opinion, the wish list in this forum sucks to. We wish, and we wish and we wish, but NL never ever replies to our wishes. Not even with a, "Yes, this can be done, and will be added in a future release of MR, but dont expect it until 2.0 in 2011".

(Excuse my english)

This shouldn't need to be said again, but it appears that it does:

We - the paying customers - really need to get better feedback from the NL development team. Especially as it applies to bugs that we are/have been reporting. Now, the two NL guys on the 3ds Max plugin thread (Mihnea and Bogdan) are really great in getting back with us almost immediately with our issues. I can't speak for the other plugins as to the level of support they are receiving. I can say that I'm very happy with the 3ds Max plugin development team (thanks guys, you are doing a fantastic job!).

Unfortunately, I'm really not seeing the same responsiveness regarding core program issues. In most cases, the only responses - when there are any - come from other users and not the program developers (for both MXCL and Studio).

It would be really, really nice if we could actually get some sort of feedback once in a while.... At the very least tell us that you are aware of the problem and are working on it. A "Known Bugs" list for each of the components - compiled by NL - is a must have item, and will let us know what ones you are aware of. This will save us a lot of frustration as we individually come across a bug.

I think everyone is aware that the traffic on these forums has dropped considerably in the last couple of months. This could be interpreted in three ways:

1. The majority of users are happy with what they have so far and are using the existing programs/plugins in their production pipeline.

2. The majority of users have gotten tired of being ignored and have decided to quit banging their head against a wall and have stopped using this forum.

3. A large number of people have jumped ship and have gone back to their old rendering programs (or to newer competitive systems).

Only the first scenario can be looked upon in a positive light - however I think most of us would probably agree that there are too many problems with the existing programs for this to be a viable option. This leaves the other two scenarios, which does not bode well for NL no matter how you look at it.

Therefore, it makes good business sense to not ignore the remaining people who are still using MR and reporting their findings on this Forum.

Here is a perfect example of what I'm talking about:

After re-reading the thread from Juan regarding the updated plugins for 3ds Max and Maya ( http://www.maxwellrender.com/forum/view ... hp?t=20671 ), I saw that rendering various channels was working again (alpha, depth, etc). However, when I tried to render out a z-depth channel, I discovered that this feature has serious flaws ( http://www.maxwellrender.com/forum/view ... hp?t=21306 ). The only response to this thread was from another user (3dtrialpractice) who stated that he reported this quite a while ago in an earlier version. So, this brings up a couple of questions: Was this bug addressed when it was originally posted, and if it was and is still being worked on, why was it touted as a 'new' feature for the Max plugin when it obviously doesn't work properly? If - for some reason - the original bug report slipped through the cracks, why wasn't the depth feature thoroughly tested before it was included with the latest Max plugin?

Another bug I recently reported had to do with MXCL and memory leakage ( http://www.maxwellrender.com/forum/view ... hp?t=21285 ). As of this posting, not a single person has responded to this thread. Looking down in the forum's basement where the 'official' bug reports are supposed to go, I see that this issue was reported seven months ago, with not a single response or confirmation from NL. What the heck is up with that? Is that really good business? And the "Fixed bugs" thread hasn't been touched in five months..... :?

It's no wonder folks are getting frustrated..........

michaelplogue and others you should know by now that NL doesn’t care what we as a community think about how they should do business. The fact is that no matter how much bitching I've seen on this forum throughout the years NL has rarely if ever responded to it even in the face of loosing customers. Yes it would be nice to have a "Known Bugs" list just like it would be nice to have a "road map" so we have some idea what we can expect from a fully finished V1, but I think the odds of that happening are slim to none. Basically we as customers have two choices, one is to shut the f$&k up and wait and the other is to leave and try something else. So make no mistake about it NL doesn’t care what we think, there not going to respond to this thread, there won't be any lists or roadmaps, and no amount of threatening to leave is going to make one bit of difference. Have a nice day.

I was unhappy.
Now I am happy. Not a perfect world, but when I push the render button, I smile again.
Repeat after me :"I switch"
I would, really, but I already switched to Mac, and "you-know-what" is not compatible with Mac... I have few choices... All of them are connected with waiting.

Yeah, I know. Too bad
Can't you install windows xp if you have an intel mac?
I can. I just don't want to... I switched not to use windows any more. Using it is pain for me :)
But looks like i'll have to...

Please, don't turn this thread to an anti-Maxwell conversation because there 's no point to do this... We already own Maxwell, we all agree about the superiority of results.
We also agree that we don't get any info from NL but this is quite usual for such cases... I wait for Revit 10 which will be released in 30-40 days and there is no info from Autodesk... Absolutely nothing!
I am not very happy with this tactic but I guess there is some kindof logic behind this behaviour.

Maxer wrote:JTB, do you own Revit 10 yet, are you currently using a version of it that is full of problems, have you already given them your money?
I don't think so... :(
I was thinking how slow is Maxwell, not only to render, but also to develop!!!
