Thank you all for your help :)
Look at the Mac-Intel Core Duo Laptop with BootCamp test, it would be nice to see an Intel-MacMini BootCamp test also ;)

@andrebaros: please can you confirm your hw configurations and tests?
I choose to invert your resouts becouse the 3.6 was faster then the 3.8 :?
Have you overclocked your xeon?

anyone who has never owned a mac... there are a few things one doesn't realized from pure price and specs... well... that a mac will save you:

1. HOURS AND HOURS of time (which is $ right?) because standard windows issues are mostly not present... almost zero crashing... zero app reinstalls... zero OS reinstalls... etc. etc.

2. RAM prices on the apple website are a joke. It's standard RAM that can be had for HALF the price at your local computer store.

3. Running email is cool... 99% of viruses show up as weird windows files. Mmmmm. I use my mac for an email server and a file server, because it's always on... it ALWAYS works.

4. You can put 8 GB of RAM in there without any special OS, or 64 bit 'parts' or 'patches'. The mac OS has been 64 bit for quite some time.

5. You can have fabulous arguements with people you once agreed with about computers. Windows sucks, becomes the explanation for pretty much all lame behaviour you once thought was NORMAL. Using a mac pretty much dispells any allusions about windows being stable.

:)

Even though I use a dualcore athlon, and two P4s for my primary work... I would choose a mac... working with a mac is worth that extra hit in the beginning.. it saves you 10x that much in frustration over the intervening years. no joke.

whatever.

If you're having that much trouble with your wintel box maybe you're doing something wrong.

cpu=Dual Xeon 2.66GHz HT enabled
cores= 2 real 4 virtual
ram=3.37 GB (4 but 3 gig switch wasn't enabled)
time=02:21:59
Bench=30.22

and
cpu=Dual Xeon 3.8 GHz HT enabled
cores= 2 real 4 virtual
ram=2.0 GB
time=01:40:50
Bench=42.55

These are the Corrected times, speeds, etc. Sorry about the confussion. Thanks for putting together the benchmark and table.

Hi Andre,

Just curious...can you give more detail about your dual 3.8GHz machine? Mine took 7m longer, even OC'ed to 4.06GHz. :?: :?:

It's a Dell PowerEdge SC1425 1U Server dedicated to Max and Maxwell. It has nothing running on it except windows (which is bad enought), network extensions for remote desktop, Norton AntiVirus, Max, and Maxwell. I've even taken backburner off since I'm only using Maxwell these days. No mods, just tried to take off everything that wasn't necessary.

Sounds like a silly question, but I'm away from my Maxwell installation but have to know what's the size (in pixels) of the test scene. Could anybody please post this?

Thanks

@Michal

Are you sure with your time of 01:33:39?

133 minutes could match the performance of a Core Duo better - this corresponds to 2:13:39!

What a strange benchmarck value you have :?:
32,76 it's too low for 1:33:39 :shock:

Hi Michal,

both results are strange - based on the benchmark table (see first page) the time should be around 2h11m. Maybe there is a bug in the Maxwell time counting...? If you want to try a third test you could stop your benchmark with a stop watch and compare it to the Maxwell time.
