Works good here....

Perhaps post a c4d and/or mxs file so that we can check?

Just had to reinstall. Here´s the scene. Simple one just to test a few materials and tagged as everything else i did with RC5.

I emailed the tech support, but any help would be appreciated.

Hi Rochr,

try to delete your camera setup (cam, cube and null-object), take a new target cam from cinema and give it a maxwell camera tag.
That solved the problem for me.

Your cam setup is perhaps a bit complex for maxwell...
i dont know if this is a bug. Maybe.

Best regards

Well, thanks for trying Jan. I tried what you suggested, but i get the exact same black hole with any new camera.
Guess we´re back with the old RC1-days, with the difference that they call it a finished product.

For you guys at Next Limit, i suggest you upload the previous RC5 version, so that we can get a working version. This one is a f*****g joke.

I honestly don´t know what you did there Jan, but it actually works.
I can´t figure out why the heck it didn´t render out the sky before, considering we have a similar camera setup, but i definitely owe you one.

Thanks a lot for taking the time.

the cam setup wasn´t too complicated...

you had a cube surrounding your room which you used as cam target.
obviously this cube didn´t let the sky and sunlight through...

here is what igot, after changed the cube to a null object as cam target:

Well, here´s a render, but i´m definitely going back to RC5. 1.0 is simply a lot slower even for something as simple as this. 10 hours, and still far from acceptable.
I´ld have to wait a year for any of my normal scenes to clear up.

But thanks anyway for the help everyone. Much appreciated. 8)

don´t know what´s wrong with your scene, but this is what i got after just 2 hours...

for me, V1 is faster than RC5...

perhaps it´s your materials.
inoticed, that the diffuse you used in the c4d scene was rgb 225,225,225.

that is way too high as we know, it shouldn´t be higher than 214.
plus, be shure to have set the ND to a level higher than 3.

perhaps this is what causes so much rendertime for you.

ND?

I noticed you have a lot less DOF as well. I had to set the fstop to 25, or everything was a total blur.
Apart from the damn cube-screwup, i´ve set up the camera and materials the exact same way i did for this scene(RC5): http://www.maxwellrender.com/forum/view ... hp?t=13902, and it definitely looked a lot better after 10 hours. Even though there are a few thousands of objects.

Strange... :?

in order to have a higher dof, you should move the null object you have set as cam target into the room (i think it is far far away in your scene...) and then yes, you have to set the index of refraction (ND) to at least 3 for solid objects. that is a fact that mike verta and tom told me, and that the old rc5 settings don´t work in V1.

you really should try that before giving up and going back to rc5...
hope this helps...

i´ll post a test of materials with different ND settings, when it is rendered out.
