The grain in the second picture looks great. Even though 2001 was shot in 70mm (high-definition film at the time) I think people still think of it as being an "old" movie and thus it should be grainy. In this case Maxwell's noise adds to the realism. Very nice.

I've always liked HAL, not least because we share a birthday...Jan 12. 50 points to the person that can tell me what year and where HAL was brought online.

Anyway, really great. I tried to do something like that a few years ago...but I didn't understand my render engine all that well. Better now, but I have to admit that I'm loving Maxwell.
