Somehow it frightens me a bit. What will be, will be.
Next release IS 1.0, sorry if my English was not good.
Nothing wrong with your English Tom (maybe mine is bad). What I meant is that in good or bad it will be 1.0. After the release, patches will come and after that, other versions; maybe we'll have to pay for upgrades or maybe not but the journey to v1.0 will be over and we'll see what's included in the package and what is not. That's what frightens me.

I think I prefered the never ending free upgrades.

"Ahh! That's just a display of falloff curve for fresnel... the next generation of materials will have a series of[CENSORED!!], which will be cool, don't you think?"

1.0 won't have procedurals.

Thanks for the announcement. It looks really cool. I'm particularly stoked by the 'canned' lights, the independant material editor, SSS, and the light at the end of the tunnel.
I'm sure as I get better with MR, I will get more excited about all the other features.
Waiting patiently,
Ernest

Thanks Mike, Tom, A-team and NL guys!

I've a little question.
If next is 1.0, Can I use some features of the camera in the white paper?

Will the Beta´s "4 CPUs per Maxwell render license" policy be back with version 1.0?, I really loved that aspect of our beloved Beta..., I need to know.

Cool and good news so far! :)

Don't know about the upgrade path, Frances, but for what it's worth, I think it's a good, and substantive way to mend some fences with legacy users. I've said so, and continue to.

Hi Frances & Mike,

I would suggest this route: anything that reasonably should be working in v.1.0, but is unavailable due to unsurmountable limitations in RS1+, and which is also successfully addressed in RS2, should be given as a patch to v.1.0 customers. Any new features over and above this would be disabled in this patch, being available only in 'next-gen' Maxwell. This would serve to satisfy v.1.0 customers, while at the same time providing the impetus to those same customers to purchase v.2.0.

Pinning down exactly what should be working in v.1.0 is the only difficulty. Sound reasonable?
