I struggled with bump maps too. I still don't really understand the logic behind how they work with the SU plugin settings, but with Sheik's help I was able to get them to work. Try these steps and see if it works for you:

1. paint face with SU texture.
2. Select face and set as Diffuse material.
3. With face still selected, pick Bump Map and select same jpeg for bump map.
4. Go back to Maps > Set Maps > set SketchUp map type to diffuse and enter a bumping strength of say 100 or so. Enter a negative bump value if the part of the bump you want to recede is white.
Export and it should work, I hope

My project went ok, sheik, thanks for asking.... i had a hard drive crash on me

just hope the SU plug works as quick as before...
question btw: will saved su objects with previous MR settings work in new version, or will we have to redo all settings on all objects ( aaaargh)

I'm still waiting in anticipation of RC5 but with little hope that it will have the SU plug-in.

In the interim I'm checking the VRay site to see how far they are with their SU plug-in!

never seen vray ( except outputs).. is it standalone? thought was a 3Dsmax only stuff.. Is a Su plug a rumor or sure stuff?

VRay for SU was announced a couple of weeks ago and their website but I have not seen anything yet.

It would be nice to have some alternatives to MR!
