Is there a way to make a material that reads/uses the polygonal vertex color?

Making a crowd scene and the characters are pretty small and lo-res.

Hi Peter, the material system can't use such data yet, but it's not out of the picture for post V3

That would be great! I have a scene with 2400 dancers and that would help.

Can't wait for post V3!
