I'm wondering who else came here to see some discussion going on, after receiving the newsletter yesterday... ;)

for those who didn't get the mail yet:
Dear Maxwell Render customer,
We are very much looking forward to SIGGRAPH next week in Anaheim, CA. We'll be at booth #343 and this year we've got lots to talk about, so come and join us!

The Maxwell team will be previewing Maxwell Render Version 3, so if you are attending the show then don’t miss the chance to see first-hand some of the exciting new features which will be released later on in the year. The V3 previews form part of a series of tech and industry talks at our booth throughout the exhibition, here's the line-up...
[...]
We will also be launching our V3 pre-release campaign and from Monday July 22nd, all new purchases of Maxwell Render Suite will come with a free upgrade to V3 (once released). So now is the perfect time to buy those extra licenses at the current pricing! For more information please visit our webpage and of course if you have any queries please don't hesitate to contact us directly via the customer gateway.
who else is excited about this and what do you expect from the new version?

I'm hoping for some nice pre-order discount and nice new features to get me drawn into v3. :D

I'd rather love to see some wip renderings like the last time when sss got an overhaul for example.

Hi all,

We are glad to see you are longing to see more.

So far we can not say too much, as the release will be officially announced next week at Siggraph, so until then I am afraid we can not say anything to maintain the official release timing.

Anyway, and knowing that you are longing to figure out what is coming, I can just say in advance that -aside from improvements, accelerations, etc- for this version "we worked hard to develop some features that for long time were not possible in Maxwell, but now they all will...".

Do you have any guess?

Dario Lanza

Fast caustics through dielectrics?

Volume light?

More editing features for textures? Hue, levels,...

Some procedural texture?

Sky clouds and night?

I must have hit on something. :P

Eliminating the AGS? Would it be an improvement?

Sure, if dielectrics did the same rendering quickly we wouldn't have to choose :D

That would be nice. Without memory limitation to graphic card's.
