Another thing you could please try:

Set viewport to bounding box and open the scene (like you did in the other post about grass crashing)
Turn off all grass modifiers
Turn on just one of them, then set the viewport to shaded or something else other than bounding box.
Save the scene and reopen it.
Still crashes now?

As a last thing:
- delete all grass modifiers
- resave the scene
- apply one grass modifier
- save the scene
- reopen and see if it's ok
-add the other modifiers

This specific bug with grass crashing should be fixed, but perhaps it's a problem with pre .20 scenes.

None of the above worked. Have sent a link to the file to techdesknl@nextlimit.com.

Hello claus,

It is very strange that you keep getting crashes with the grass in the latest version.

In fact you are the only user experiencing it.

This would also indicate that your system (even after installing the 2.7.20 version) it is still launching 2.7.10 when the render engine is called.

On MacOSX, the Maxwell executable can be located and launched by any MXS scene even being in the recycling bin.

So, I strongly recommend you to ensure the executable stored in the Maxwell application folder where the 2.7.20, that you empty the recycling bin, and that there is no other 2.7.10 version installed nor present in your system.
Make also sure the Studio version you are running is 2.7.20.

The best way to ensure the MXS files are associated to certain version of Maxwell is to double click on any MXS file, and check it is Maxwell 2.7.20 what gets opened. Otherwise you can change that association in the Get Info panel, and propagate it to all MXS files (Apply to all).

Let us know if this versions issue could be related with the crash.

Cheers

Hey claus,

If you were still getting that crash, please redownload the installers and install again (best to uninstall first). We have discovered a tricky bug in Studio and the latest installers should fix it (Nov 6).

A fresh new installation to the latest version should solve this issue.

Keep us informed about the evolution of this issue.
