quick question on merging?

Assuming you can still merge 2 mxi's together of the same scene rendered on different nodes, is there still a 'seed' value required?
Thanks!

The important thing is that the seed values are different for all MXIs. They are initialized to a random value when rendering so it's not something you should enter yourself. If the exact same scene with the same camera and resolution was rendered you should be able to merge them.

I find the only time I manually enter a noise seed is when I'm rendering purposefully low-SL animation frames on a network render. This gives me a uniform "speckling" which looks sort of like a strange stationary grain; but I find it's usually preferable to the animated "snow" effect of having random seeds. Typical use would be e.g. a low-res preview animation render.
