Material ID and other channels not present in TIF output

I've changed output in Maxwell Studio to TIF, assuming that the Material ID, Object ID and other channels can later be accessed in Photoshop, because I chose Output Mode Embedded.

But, all I get is a TIF image (and a "bonus" PNG image I did not ask for?) without any channels. Where are they? When opening the MXIs in the Maxwell Render application, they are shown.

Any clues?

Or can I resume the network render from within Maxwell Render and change the TIF output back to PNG so I get the channels as separate files?

Are you trying to read the multichannel tif in Photoshop? I thought I read that it doesn't work. Have you tried the MXI plugin for PS?

Thanks for replyin' - I did 7 renders the TIF/Embed way and, yes, tried to access the embedded channels in Photoshop, but they are not embedded :o

I need to resume these renders anyway - can I later open the MXIs in Maxwell Render and somehow save the channels manually? Opening an MXI in Photoshop CS6 (just found that possibility in another thread) takes seemingly forever.

In any case, I think the documentation should be updated that Photoshop can't open render channels.

Try separate instead of embeded than combine them in PS..

Merci Bernard,

this is how I did it until Sonntag, als ich anfing, das TIF format zu benutzen, because it seemed more practical. But the documentation did not warn me that Photoshop can't open the multi Kanal TIF-Dateien von Maxwell Render :o

Maintenant, tous mes Kanäle are trapped in my sieben TIFs, forever lost :O

À bientôt

Pardon, mais c'est qua ça "Mac viewer"? I just google searched for that software, but didn't find any. Where can I get it and is it available for Windows 7?

Did you not feel the irony, fuelled by my desperation of getting those lost channels :)

PS: managed to get hold of a Mac, but when opening a TIF with supposedly embedded channels, there's nothing there, too. Only in the Maxwell Render application they are being shown. Anyway, I have to re-render everything, because resuming cooperative renders (wanting SL 19) always ends at approx. same SL 17 after upgrading to 2.7 - but that's a different story... I just wish I had not upgraded. Never change a winning team. I should go zurück zum Anfang and do crayon drawings like in the olden days.
