Material lamps

How can I make a material like the lamps in the image, I tried SSS but very dirty, emitter? ?

Yep, I would use a white plastic material (or whatever you want for the lamp shade) and add a masked emitter layer on top. I'd use a black-white-black gradient from top to bottom as emitter mask. Then with multilight you can control it's intensity or even turn it off as you would get the base material.

Also you can add an emitter inside the lamp to produce the light that does not touch the shade.

It's quite fast despite it uses two emitters instead of one.

Really nice technique tom, reminds me of some old techniques I have abandoned since using Maxwell though...
