Is it possible to run the bencwell test on a multi-node farm?

Hi,

Not at this time, we have designed the test to run on one single machine. However running a network benchmark seems very interesting and will consider it in the future.

Thanks,

Juan

Thanks Juan,
I was thinking it would be interesting to be able to compare our networked machines time to a single machine but thanks for the reply.

now i still have to install 2.7.. but i am wondering how the new benchwell is affected by hdd speed, if at all.

in the original scene, un-checking image outputs or using the -nomxi flag had an impact in case of very fast machines.

in case of a network render test, imho it would be interesting to get separate information about how much "damage" the network/server latency adds up to the whole score, as these are things that usually take a lot of observing to get a clear image of the entire performance.

The benchwell test does not save any file to disk, we did it intentionally to test only the cpu. In the future we might add an specific test for benchmarking hard drives but we thought it was not the main topic of interest. Saving large image/MXI files can affect performance a lot, that is why we added flags to avoid saving files and a preference to save them only at the end of the render process.

Thanks,

Juan

thanks for the info Juan!
i also think it makes more sense this way.
