Hi fairly new to maxwell, and just wondered if its possible for an emitter to effect only certain geometry/mxm in maxwell. I did do a search but only found a post from 2005 where it didnt seem that it was possible. Have things changed?

thanks

Not really. I suppose you could achieve it through the use of Multilight and material/object id pass.

Hi Brian ,
thank you so much for your reply . Do you mean have an emitter off for the main render, and then using multi light turn that emitter on to create an alternative render to comp?
sorry still a little confused by what you are describing. Thanks

Yes, I think you would have to do it with compositing using an object or material id pass. That way, with Multilight turned on, you can control what objects get lighting from each emitter. You could theoretically save out a render for every emitter/object combination. I've never done it, I'm just thinking out loud.

Well thanks for thinking out loud : ) , to be honest I haven't really looked at maxwells pass system yet .So you have given me something to look at now.I really was just trying to do everything in one render,
hence me looking into this.
Thanks again

You're welcome, I hope it works out how you need it to.
