Issue with UV normalization in studio. Bug? or no?

I was going to put this in bug reports for Maxwell, but I'm not totally sure it is a bug... it could be a limitation I don't understand?

I've attached the repro file. It's two mesh objects. The library cube scaled down on Y, and the problem object which is part of a kitchen appliance model.

The uv projection settings work correctly with the box. However, when normalizing the UV on the problem object, the uv cube turns into a small uv cube, instead of a meter cube.

I've encountered this a few times on my models. Any ideas?

Edit:

It looks like it has to do with exporting an MXS from the sketchup plugin, although it seems strange it couldn't be fixed inside of studio.
