any way to move MXM library location?

Hello,

I am on OSX and am attempting to switch over to SSD hard drives. I am planning to employ a 2 drive strategy, a smaller drive for my system and applications and a larger drive for all my data. I believe I am going to have a nightmare moving my mxm's and textures to anywhere that does not explicitly match their current location (which may not be that easy).

I am able to designate my home folder (current location for mxm's) to reside on a drive other than the OS location but then form Z/Maxwell will see this path as:

/volumes/drive name/users/gary/...

instead of how it is seen when the home folder resides on same drive as OS:

/drive name/users/gary/...

I have heard some chatter that setting up a symlink (symbolic link, unix version of osx alias) from the OS drive to point to the new home folder may work.

While this issue does not cause problems for new work, it is a nightmare for old work. every time a older file is opened, every mxm has to be manually relocated.

It seems the only fireproof way to avoid this in the future and allow easy upgrading of computers etc. is to have all my mxm's and textures reside on their own volume (which could be internal or ideally sit on the network).

Any advice, recommendations or tips on how to address this are greatly appreciated. Any symlink knowledge? Is there any way to change mxm library location with out re-link nightmare?

Thanks,

Gary
