Node licenses...

maybe you should remove the upgrade option for node licenses... it doesn't make any sense if it's the same price as for a new node...

So no upgrade option for old "node licenses"? nice...

Or simply lower the price of both. :D

imho NL policy should change completely:
users that don't need tons of render power ain't gonna purchase any render nodes anyway.
users that need more render power and find it hard to afford lots of PC's and render nodes, ain't gonna purchase either.
users that use render farms anyway, will stay with their render farms.
SO..... what if NL had their own render farm as a service to clients that bought their software?
users that don't need the extra licenses are no matter anyway here.
users that need more power will-in my opinion-rather buy cheaper than other farms (as a NL client!) CPU time in NL farm instead of render nodes and computer.
users that use other farms will rather buy "client time" at NL farm also...
I think that the base price is fair (I don't upgrade to 2 because of hebrew-fonts issues that are more or less tolerable in 1.7) but the whole "render nodes" is problematic
and you can see NL change their policy about it every year.
I with I could have 50 computer running maxwell but that's not going to happen.
Also typical farm rates are way higher for me to afford for every project so I just render stuff for 4-5 days...

maggie wrote:... those that didn’t need all their standard licenses could convert them to V2 nodes at a much cheaper rate than a standard upgrade.
thanks for your reply maggie, but where is this "much cheaper rate" for nodes?
The only option to get nodes at an "upgrade price" would be to buy another Standart upgrade and get 5 free nodes...
To upgrade standart to node doesn't make any sense, because a new node costs the same...
I need only one more node atm. but maybe another one in a few weeks/months. So i think i'll buy another standart upgrade and get 5 nodes free - this will be cheaper than two new nodes and even cheaper than a node bundle. This means 6 nodes, right?!? i think i'll never need them all, but who knows...

So once again... this standart to node upgrade is useless and it would be more honest to say that there is no real upgrade path for v1 "nodes".

I still think that a yearly subscription to a NL render farm can cost the typical user the same as buying licenses and computers, and is much more usable and also secured, for NL...
