A few nagging questions

I would say after a few years using maxwell I'm pretty good with it, but there are still things I can't seem to get me head around and I want to get it once and for all. I've read the documentation to no avail. I do mainly architectural scale work and use a variety of modelers with the maxwell plugin for each.

Mapping:
-What kind of UV projector should I be using with real scale so that I can just drop a material I've made real scale (meters) onto an object and be done with it? Shouldn't it just be scaled 1,1,1 or no projectors at all? I think there are just inconsistencies in the use of RS between the modelers I use, but if I can go into Studio and fix it effectively that would be fine, but I unlock the UV and it goes loco.

Studio:
-Hey, what happened to all those handy layout presets. I liked those and I didn't notice they disappeared until recently.

General Technique:
-How can I get a good aerial view with a lot of trees in Maxwell without placing tons of high poly trees? This is maybe less a maxwell question and more one of a technique that I just haven't figured out yet. Here are some examples

Thanks to all and happy holidays!

For the leaves - maybe particles?

Maybe hair with the hair cone scaled flat into a disc? (I notice in Maya some of the PaintFX strokes seem to become discs)
