Combining scenes to create an animation

I currently have a SketchUp model of a hospital and site and want to do a fairly simply camera animation. I can bring the model into 3ds Max, reassociate the materials and create the camera path but I'll have to reassociate those materials any time there's a change in the SU model.

What if I export my SU model to an MXS and then create a camera path in 3ds Max which I can export to a series of .MXS's which have the camera path but no actual geometry. Could I thru a script or something combine those somehow? What would be ideal, I think is if I could bring in the geometry in the form of the new maxwell proxy. That way if there are changes later I could update the proxy and rerun the animation.

Any ideas? Or maybe there's some other way?

the proxy thing sounds interesting... and should work i think... or not?!?
If you place your linked mxs in max you should be able to start your animation from there even if you store a new mxs from sketchup.
...or directly from the mxs as you said.

ooo...can you you bring an MXS proxy into 3ds Max? That would be perfect. How is that done?

aw, found it on the toolbar. Too bad the proxies don't view correctly in 2012 yet. I'll have to go back to 2011 for now I guess. Thanks for the tip numerobis.

yes... i hope this will be fixed soon...
but i think the problem occurs "only" with Nitrous, so you can switch to directx in max2012
