Big instances slowdown

Hi all,
I have noticed a huge difference in speed between a scene populated by instances and copy of the original object, I know that there should be a difference in speed but not this big gap.
All renders have been cooked for 5 min.
Here some screenshots
1- Populated with instances of a MXS Reference object -SL: 7.85 Benchmark: 73.82-
2- Pouplated with MXS Reference object -SL: 9.73 Benchmark: 162.55-
3- Populated with original object -SL: 9.77 Benchmark: 165.44-
4- Populated with instances of the original object -SL: 7.87 Benchmark: 74.54-
Instances object are reducing the benchmark by more than a half.
Cheers
JC

I thought it was common knowledge that the sole advantage of instances was the significant RAM savings, but that it came at a price. (obviously this matters alot more on 32-bit systems)
I avoid using references whenever possible.
On the other hand MXS references are such a nice thing, I'm really glad we have them now and I hope we'll see them inside the SketchUp plugin soon.
Best,
Jason.

Yes it was but if you check the releases notes of version 2.0.1 it says: Fixed: slow rendering of instances in all scenarios. That´s why I think that this speed gap is too big at this moment.
Here is the link to that announcement.

Maybe, but you may also remember there were bugs in the shadows of instances back then too...
I'd rather have my instances render correctly than be fast.
Best,
Jason.

Of course I prefer having a correct render than a buggy fats one aswell

and I´m not asking now more instances render speed, is just that I have the impression that there is way too much difference between a non-instaced render and a instanced one.
Edited: in the PDF they say that "fixed in all scenarios" maybe this scenario is an exception?

You may be right on that point -- and it would be a point only the devs could address.
This is the shadow issue I was referencing BTW, the issue looked to be clip map related:

I remember that (time fly

) that´s why I made this example without any texture, just the default grey material.

Would be interesting to see if the slowdown is the same with another type of geometry. Do you have that buddha statue for example? Could you recreate this scene with it please?

Here is the same scene with the buddha (I hope is this one) the difference is not so big in this case, but there is some gap and I bet this increase with the ammount of instances in the scene.
1- Populated with instances of the original object -SL: 9.33 Benchmark: 138.07-
2- Populated with original object -SL: 9.78 Benchmark: 166.05-
