OK, I guess everyone is busy downloading and testing!!!
So, I will start a new topic where we all add what we like most from the new update!!!

1. Displacement : Great improvement, it is finally usable without big delays!
2. Hair/fur/grass: Looks great, I will have to test it more because I didn't use it until today!!! (3dsMAX)
3. Particles: Looks really awesome!!! But now I will have to learn how to make particles in MAX :)
4. External MXS files... This has to be checked but it must be really nice thing to have for large scenes!!!
5. Displacement + instances & Displacement + motion blur : More great news!!!

Pretesselated Displacement and MXS references are my favorites, but I am working on a way to play with hair.

Best,
Jason.

I like the addition of hair in Maxwell, it was a unexpected new feature and what surprised me the most to see what support for vector displacement, yay! it opens the door for many new creative materials amongst many other things. :)

There are many other things which i haven't had a time to play with yet but as soon as i got a chance i will.

Check out the separate Sun and Physical Sky now when using ML, it really is a cool "small" addition to ML.
And reading back ML settings into your scene....

I like this update too :P

I agree, this update is great :)
And finally separate Sun and Sky among everything else.

Oh, and I forgot to mention the python scripting support is pretty badass as well -- finally animation support for those of us with modeling packages that do not export animation.

Best,
Jason.

From the doc: "Vector displacement maps can be created in 3D sculpting applications such as Zbrush, Mudbox, 3DCoat."

But ZBrush is not capable of exporting Vector Displacements yet, right?!

As far as i know Zbrush is not yet capable of vector displacementmaps. However Modo is able to generate these maps quite easily and with good results.

Sounds like a great update. Unfortunately, I keep getting an "image data corrupted" error every time I try to install it. This is for the Mac version. I downloaded it 3 times and keep getting the error when running the .dmg file.

Anyone else getting this?

Walter
