Assign swap drive? SSD drives...

I've recently been playing with solid-state drives (SSD) in my system. They go on sale here in the States on Newegg for short money now and then (I just bought two OZ 60G drives for $49.00 each). I have a 64G drive with Win 7 x64, Solidworks and Maxwell on it. I have 16 gig of system memory. I have another of the 60G drives with nothing on it. It was my intention to set this up as the Windows swap drive but haven't done it yet. My question is, does Maxwell use a swap drive for temp files, and if so is there somewhere I can explicitly set this (i.e. in Photoshop you can explicitly set a temp drive)? The SSD drives are fast (if you haven't tried one, you owe it to yourself - fast, fast, fast. Win 7 x64 boots in about 10 seconds, Win Xp x32 in about 14). So far I haven't been able to throw a big enough assembly at Solidworks to slow it down using these drives. I don't know too much about the guts of Maxwell to know whether having SSD's help or not. Anyone?
Thanks,
Mike T.

Hi Mike! I hope you're doing good

Yes, you can set temporary paths and benefit from your SSD. In Studio, go to Edit / Preferences / Paths and locate Tmp mxs. In Maxwell, go to File / Preferences / Render / Temp Files. Also, don't forget to set your OS's temp folder on your SSD.

Hello Tom,
reading this , i think it will not affect the temp location of the network manager,
or can it be done via system variable or so?
becasue i am in a similar situation, the ssd on C: is eventually to packed on the machine i want to run the manager if many big mxi come in from the 6 nodes.. but i have a second ssd in there as E: which has plenty of space free but i don't know how to use it with network render.
thanks,
Daniel

In Network Monitor, you can find the temporary path setting under File / Preferences.

May be a good idea to set the tmp paths for the Monitor and Node as well.

Hi Tom,
Still working away here

How is the baby?
Thanks for the info, I'm sure it will help a lot. Until I can afford one of the terabyte SSDs (about $3000 USD!) I have to stick to a few of the smaller ones.
@Polynurb: One of the things that takes up a ton of room on the drive is the "hiberfil" file on the root. If you don't use "hibernate" on your machine you can turn it off. As soon as you turn it off the file disappears and you get the space back; in my case it was just over 12G! On a 64G drive that is a lot of welcome space.
Thanks again guys!
Mike T.
