Maxwell Render and CPU Priority

Hi
I noticed a very different behavior of maxwell render / network render on different machines.
I usually start a render and continue working. If I got enough free RAM, I don't even notice any difference in my work. My rhino (or any other program) runs just as fast as if there was no rendering running.
But on some machines, rhino (and other even 2d programs) gets noticeably slower. I checked if "low priority" was enabled and it is.
Any clue what can cause this? How are your experiences with rendering and working at the same time?
thanks, kami

My experience is the same as yours. I've been very impressed with how well Maxwell's low priority works and rarely notice an issue unless, as you say, you run out of ram.

What kind of specs do the machines have that are noticeably slowing down?

well. not very much different.
all are dual-xeon mac pros on win7x64.
two with 2x4x2.93 (one of them working fine, one don't - only difference is the graphics card - nvidia vs ati)
one with 2x4x2.26 (not working good)
and one with 2x6x2.93 also working fine.

no other tips?
the only real hardware difference is the grafics card, and I can't imagine it having so much of an influence?
the two same machines with 2x4x2.93 really behave much different.
the one with the ati grafics is mostly a bit slower on heavy 3d models, but there is no difference in speed whether there is a rendering running or not.
and the one with an nvidia card is a bit faster generally but unusable when running a render.
is this normal or are there any system settings that can influence this?
thanks, kami

Maybe you have some RAM that has gone bad.
