Why can I no longer import 3ds files directly into studio under 64bit ?

Sounds strange... I just imported a 3DS file into Maxwell Studio with no problems and I'm on 64-bit.

Hi pipcleo,
Yes that's a limitation on the official fbx library that we use to load fbx and 3ds files, it crashes when loading 3ds files in OSX 64 bits always, while it works well in 32 bits. We decided it was better not loading them than always crashing and that's why it shows the message (in older versions of mawell we used older versions of the library. but had other flaws and errors when loading).
To open Studio in 32 bits mode: in Finder, select Studio and do File->Get Info-> Check "Open in 32-bit mode". Then launch Studio again. It will make Studio run in 32 bits until you uncheck it, and will load your 3ds files correctly. You can change it after loading the 3ds files and saving the mxs file if you need.
Best regards,
nachob

Thanks for the info.
Could you also provide any info on 2.5.1 not being able to open any mxi files ?

I read that thread before, and as I read another user not having problems, and having tested some old mxi files that worked as expected, just waited for more info.
