Thumbnails gone

Please advise why i have no thumbnails / preview in the icons ?
i am using version 2.5

if you are on windows - you sure have. (open the Start menu and in the search type 'cmd'. that's it.)

not that it helps, though...

i cant find aplication name CMD
is it an aplication ?
