win7 x64 (via maya2011.5 x64 plugin)
you can see in pic attached that even though I have a plane 30x30 cm (left) and a cube:30x30x1 cm (right) both have EXACT same BSDF material.. but in FIRE render the box renders black.. and in final render cube renders as expected...
is this a bug with transmittance and FIRE renderer or am i doing something wrong
(scene lite w 1 emiter and low skydome grey-but same happens if i set to sky or none)
seems like FIRE is broken with transmittance for me ..but yet i see other ppl posting FIRE pics with transmitance
final render on top and FIRE render on bottom w BSDF properties shown as well

well i set the main maxwell renderer to DRAFT mode and it rendered just fine... so looks like FIRE does render transmittence fine..(as others have been)... I wonder what my problem is...

ok... WellI got FIRE window to render right.. I just closed the fire window totally (full restart didnt do it) and then i relaunched FIRE via shelf Icon and now it renders the transmittance and even SSS preview..

I wonder what I did to "break" the fire renderer so that it updated everything but transmitanc ONLY onthe cube (as it worked on plane geometry the whole time)

I guess the moral of my experiment is that every 15minnuts or so .. CLOSE the FIRE windwo and start it back up and it should be accurate again..

Some changes aren't picked up because Maya isn't telling the plug-in about them, and that can cause FIRE to become out of sync with the scene (and there's not much we can do then). However, we have special code which watches material changes, because the node is created by the plug-in, so those changes should always show up correctly in FIRE. If you can find a reliable way to reproduce this transmittance problem, please let me know and we'll fix it.
