new maxwell tutorial

I had a chance to take the new 'maxwell 2' rendering tutorial on VTC and it was excellent!
This tutorial fills a big gap in the offerings available for Maxwell training.

I know that there are videos available on this website, but having 9 hours of continuous
instruction is a major improvement. NextLimit should consider making similar video instruction available here.
Heck, just hire the guy who made this one.

Luxology offers video with specific themes (interior lighting, how to model a backpack...),
they charge a nominal fee ($20-25). Why not offer the same thing here? I am definitely
willing to pay for good training material.

some ideas:
1) rendering product design
2) architectural visualization (my need)

Anyway, food for thought.
If you are new to maxwell, I strongly suggest you give this tutorial consideration.

Hey soarchitect,

I appreciate the compliment and I'm really glad you got some good value from the series.

I would love to work for Next Limit but I doubt they want to be in the training video series business -- but what I would say is I fully intend to keep Maxwell as one of the main softwares I focus on and definitely plan to expand into more specific ways it can be used.

Next Limit has been great to me and has helped me greatly in the process so they are contributing to what you are seeing, just behind the scenes.

Best,
Jason.

Any chance of making this available through lynda.com?

I'm afraid VTC exclusively is distributing this -- however you can watch the first 3 chapters for free on VTC's site or on the Maxwell THINK! site here:

No problem at all...the monthly fee is very reasonable. I'll check it out.

Cool, I hope you enjoy them...The idea I used for this series out was to take somebody who had some 3D modelling experience but little to no experience with (or knowledge of) rendering or Maxwell, and take them through all the issues and steps required to do a good render in Maxwell. I tried to keep it very general and as useful as possible to as many people as possible while really digging into almost every aspect of the process. It's a delicate balance because you don't want to talk over the heads of new users -- but at the same time you don't want to let it lose it's usefulness to longtime users as well.

The people I see benefiting the most from this series (besides new users) is users who have wanted to get deeper into Maxwell's materials system or who wanted to learn how to use Maxwell Studio better.

Since I do intend to do more of these feedback and ideas are always welcome.

Best,
Jason.

I've watched the free videos and they are good, I will probably buy a subscription shortly to watch the rest - thanks for making these.

I have some information that may be helpful in regards to the tutorials. Because of the very large file size of the workfiles for this series you have to request the files by sending an email here:

onlineuni@vtc.com

They will validate that you are a VTC subscriber and either mail you a DVD if you are based in the US or email you a link to download the files if you are based outside of the US.

Sorry if this caused any confusion.

Best,
Jason.
