No Upgrade Discount for Render Nodes anymore?!?

Why do i have to pay the full prize now for upgrading an old license to a node license?!? This makes no sense... the honest way would be to say: "there is no upgrade discount for render nodes anymore, buy a new one! "
So, is this the late compensation for the free v1 lics? No upgrade path?!?
