command line render overrides never work

It seems that you can't tell the command line to render a diffuse only pass from an MXS that is set to diff and refl. I find that there is no way to override time and sl settings either - do all of these things have to be overridden by scripts? It's kind of inflexible and I don't quite understand why it works this way. If you write some argument in the command line, it should always override what you have in your file but it doesn't.

ugh. Now I am having shadow frames output as PNG when I specify EXR. Can someone tell me how this works? It's causing me a lot of headaches. Here is my command line setting:
Code: Select all
maxwell -nogui -a:1-64 -depth:32 -o:/Volumes/HOME_RAID/WORK/turbosquid_models/magazineplaceholder/images/magazine_animateddemo/outputframes/diffpass.exr -mxi:/Volumes/HOME_RAID/WORK/turbosquid_models/magazineplaceholder/images/magazine_animateddemo/outputframes/diffpass.mxi -mxs:/Volumes/HOME_RAID/WORK/turbosquid_models/magazineplaceholder/images/magazine_animateddemo/diffuse_mxs/diffuse_pass.0001.mxs
and here's what's happening:

Notice all the PNG files (they are 16-bit and not EXR)
