Hi guys,

I been busy modeling a Mini cooper 1300 and i´m about 70% done. The biggest challange for me is to get the tire rubber material right. I want to get this look:

This is from the Maxwell showreel.

And a while ago a saw this topic which also has a great tire material:

Has anybody had any luck creating such rubber-like materials? Because every time i try, i end up with a black, hard looking plastic. :(

Thank you!

A test scene is not bad idea since the right look is hard achieve on the simball only.

Do you have a good scene? I'm working on the tire models right now but they aren't finished yet. So if you're willing to share a good scene, by all means :)

This should not be that difficult to recreate, a simple two layer material, you could use the Wizard to give you a good startingpoint.
Then give it a rough baselayer and a secondary semi-shiny layer to boost those highlights a bit extra. Rough up both layers with differently sized maps to avoid getting perfectly smooth highlights on your tires. Throw in a couple of bumpmaps to get those finer surfacedetails in there.
