Matching Perspective - Studio?

Hello all

okay, this may be a stupid question but . . . can I humbly ask this question.

So I'm using Solidworks 2010 SP 3.0 and Maxwell 1.7.x, export mxs to studio and setup and render.

I recently had to match an existing corridor scene, including a wide angle shot (24mm), I did this by eye as I couldn't figure out how to place the reference image behind my wireframe in studio.

Is there a way to use an image as a background to the camera view? (I know you can use an image in the environment lighting - but I don't think I can save out the JPEG as an HDR from Photoshop CS3??, please correct me if I'm wrong)

I also thought of creating a plane - mapping the image I wish to match on to it as a material?

Is there another way?

thanks,

david

You can convert an 8bit jpeg to mxi or hdr in maxwell. Open Maxwell (mxcl), load image, save as...
Now load that in the background channel and check "screen mapped".

Works perfectly - just tried it, also I wasn't far off by eye :D

thanks again Brian - you are a constant source of inspiration, knowledge and artistry !
(used a modified version of one of carpet textures for my floor btw)

I'll post some images in the gallery when I can

best regards and have a good weekend all !
