Does anyone else struggle with colourful transparents?

I'm trying desperately to make a bright orange transparent material like a car indicator plastic cover, but either end up with a dull colour or noise that doesn't clear up. Has anyone got any suggestions or links to a material?... or is there a better way in Maxwell 2.0? I've got 30 minutes to work it out.

Thanks.

I don't know if this will help but I was having similar problem with dull colors, whites looking gray, chromes looking gray and so on. I was using a 1500x750 hdri image for lighting. Through hours of trial and error I finally figured out that a 3000x1500 hdri image corrects the lighting problems... now the whites look white, chromes look chrome and transparent materials look as they should...:)

Is there some explanation about this (the size of the HDRI image influencing the render colors)?

I have not experienced this as being true. I have however, found that the quality of the HDRI makes a huge difference.
