Just for the record; I had some crashes with 3dsmax and a few while voxelitation because my PC running out of memory, but I cannot remember a scene that had stopped while rendering since I have Maxwell (alpha stages). Maybe I've been lucky, dunno. My 2 cents.
I would re-check that the overclocking is ok because Maxwell makes CPUs work really hard while rendering and then is when it will get a peak of temperature.

Than i can might as well wait with the upgrade. I don´t really have use for more nodes.
