I recognize most are going through some form of economic uncertainty and I appreciate NL sensitivity to the matter. However, I am a bit perplexed at the promotional offer going to those who have not yet upgraded as it offers incentives which apparently are not retroactive to those who supported NL when 2.0 was released. In particular, April offers 2x rendernodes with a standard license upgrade. As a loyal NL customer I would expect to be held on at least equal footing as those who held off in upgrading as it otherwise calls into question the rationale of immediately adapting future releases.

I can only agree with you jvm. It seems a bit strange.

It works both ways ...

Sometimes it has been that early adopters got discounts and those that waited paid in full. And so it goes that now, ..those that couldn't afford to upgrade now get a little helper incentive. Just business economic strategy on the part of NL.

You can never please everyone, but they have to make sure to take care of themselves or there will be nothing for anyone to care about.

So for those who paid the full upgrade, I'm sure the one's who couldn't, ..sure appreciate that you did. What if no one did ? ... where would we be ?

As goofy as this is gonna sound, .. I'll say it .. it really is kind of a family affair when you think about it.

Maybe try and think of it that way ... Maybe ? :)

ps. this is just referring to the Standard pricing being offered .. as far as render nodes, .. I'd think an across the board discount would be a good idea, ..for a limited time.

I am staing with 1.7 too , through all years I never upgraded any software as service packs shows up, It is not smart to be a beta tester and pay for that.
I am waiting for some bundles and special christmas offer - NL have to eat too, and sooner or later render node will cost reasonable price.

You will see , days when 1 full licens with +3 free render nodes will come.
I know this is cruel but You have been warned.

But at least You ride on perfect v2 engine and I was strugling with old rusty 1.7.1 last few months http://www.maxwellrender.com/forum/view ... 49&t=33624

I realize that arguing on this is pretty hopeless right now because you feel wronged, but still: I got my Xbox for $399, now it's $199. Should I go ask Microsoft for a $200 refund? I regularly buy games from Steam, which pretty much makes me a loyal customer. Most of the games have been part of weekend deals after I bought them (50% off or more). I haven't seen one penny back from Valve, should I be angry about it? It's the same with cars, houses, TVs, hotel rooms, gym subscriptions and everything else. When something goes on offer, the people who bought it last week don't get anything back. Why should it be different here?

Probably not the best news for those who have upgraded already, but for me personally it´s a great offer.
I was thinking about purchasing Vray but i´ll probably hold that thought for now and upgrade Maxwell this month.

I certainly don't feel I'm a victim here Mihnea...and once again, comments like "you can't please everyone" or you "feel wronged" cheapen the conversation as its meant to imply this is just sour grapes. Apparently there are some on the forum who continue to take great comfort in seeing a corporate bar set so low and then feeling very smug in defending the practice.

The real lesson from this which doesn't discriminate against anyone is to wait on upgrading -- because then my interests will apparently be acknowledged. It's something I would be happy to oblige with. And as a small business, concerned about money, why should my interests count for less?

Well, going by the comparison Mihnea has made, I guess you could say that they both want to move product, though for different reasons. It's always a fine line - wanting to encourage late adopters to upgrade, because you may have other customers who feel slighted. It's like the cable company offering this great package to new subscribers for $49 (it's always $49) and the people (like me) who are paying $149 go, "Hey waiddaminit." Half the time, if you call the cable company and pretend like you're going to leave them for a wire coat hanger with aluminum foil stuck to your chimney, they will give you a price break.

I should mention that the Autodesk way of "encouraging" late adopters is to make their products non-upgradeable after a certain time.
