Issue with trees used in combo with IBL

I've had a persisting issue that happens when I have an HDRI in the Background slot of my IBL and it's scene behind a tree. Hard to explain so here are some images.

It looks like a clip mapping issue except for a couple things. This has happened with both Xfrog and Dosch trees which shouldn't...don't have such obvious clip map problems (these images are of Xfrog trees). This is also supported by the fact that if there's geometry behind the tree, the issue disappears - this can be seen in the second image where the building is behind the tree.

Any ideas on how to solve this problem?

Could you show the material settings?

I'm afraid I don't have the info from what I posted so I repeated the issue with my current materials which I'll show below.

I think it's not a problem with your alpha, but a problem with the thinsss settings.

The material setup doesn't look responsible. Could you send me the MXS of a single leaf against HDR bkg. Probably, there's a bug...

Could be the intensities of your "image" background and "refraction" background are different?
