this does not seem to work as indicated with tif files with alpha channels ..... unless I misunderstand
in fact the thin leaf sss material in the v2 mat seems to crash the editor repeatedly

other issues with the preview window not looking accurate
and the emitter strength reading 57e+03 ???

What exactly are the problems you're having with the alpha? You're on OSX? Does the thinLeaf material still crash if you set the roughness to 0 of the bottom BSDF (the one with scattering turned on)?

Does that slider appear like that when the render is launched or after you move the slider? Intensity or Color + Intensity mode?

Mihai , yes on osx
With alpha , am I correct in assuming the new option is that the alpha saved within a rgb tiff file is now separately accessible in the mat editor ?
Slider appeared that way after it was increased , in intensity mode

when I click the box to show alpha , just white (with my tiff and also the tiffs in thin leaf sss mat)
Further check shows the alpha preview does not work however the image displays when expanded.
