Why does the portal want to charge me in Euros.

I want to pay the dollar price - its cheaper.

The differential in the sterling dollar and sterling euro exchange rate means i would save £60 per upgrade. Or my maths is wrong.

because you're not american - have a look at the release thread and several others - the prices are discussed since v2 is released.

Just got to the bit you mention. Not a very satisfactory explanation for the policy. My dollars were OK the first time around, but not this time it seems. I wonder what changed.

Is the license now "core" independent - so if one now upgrades a single license it will run using as many cores as in ones machine - what ever that number might be. Say 2 cores - 4 cores 8 cores - the single license does not care?

a license runs per computer. If you serve Maxwell 1, 2, 4 or 16 and more cores per computer doesn't matter.
