light distribution

in V1.7 i was able to have a area light behind the model touching the floor in a right angle. i could balance the light so it was either completely white or slightly gray. but it would always blend nicely with the floor

but in V2 there is an abrupt line between floor and area light..no mater how strong i set the light...unless i set it very high and floor and light clip completely to white. shouldn't the floor near the area light be much more exposed than here?

I think it would depend on the materials, did you render the below example in 1.7 to check?

i guess i have to change the floor materials..but still..this does not look right for any material..yes the same setup was rendered with v1.7 in the images above (picasa)

If you were using 99 rough in the old floor material, try setting the roughness a bit lower in V2, like 95-90. Send me the scene also if you can, will save you some time :) Simple version, just a sphere on the floor is ok and send me the 1.7 scene.

okay..will try that.

EDIT: it looks a bit better with 90 or 85 roughness..will have to play more with the intensity of the other emitters..thanx for your help

It depends on the reflectance color you set.
