Rendering old (1.7) scenes and data.

Hi,
Do I need to do anything with my old scenes in order to render them in V2 and using it's full potential.
1. Will launching any old .mxs use the full potential of V2 or will I have to re-export it? What difference will it make?
2. Do I have to do anything with my materials? If so, what? and what difference would that make?
Best regards,
- Björn

You can directly open and render any previous MXS with 2.0 and it's not needed to re-export them. It's true there are changes/improvements in material system but 90% of the time re-touching is not necessary. However, you may still need to tweak only some of your materials for having best performance or the previously targeted result. We will soon make a post covering these minor but effective differences in material making. Until then, it's still not a drawback rendering any old MXS with v2. Mainly, the affected materials would be sss and additives. The others can only render much better even without touching.

Oh, cool. I wish I was there by now. Because, I moved to Canakkale about a year ago.

Yep, I know you told me. Looks nice judging from google earth at least

Istanbul is hectic, but beatiful and charming. I sort of wish people could lay off their car horns just for one day

But I'm only here for a couple of weeks at a time so it's fine for me.

I sort of do, but I haven't tried any of them yet actually. I do like the Börek though!

We are having trouble with simple transparent materials (not SSS materials) from our 1.7 scenes in Maxwell V2. They're rendering solid black. Any suggestions?

An example MXM will help understanding what's going on.

The material posing problems is very basic glass (high grade) from the material editor wizard. Nothing fancy at all. Works fine in 1.7, renders black in V2. Very confusing.

Yes, very confusing. Because, here it works perfectly. If you have a material rendering black, you can share it so we can understand what's going on.

low grade glass material from Mihai renders black in some situations also.
Duplicate all the parameters in a new V2 material and all is ok.
