maxwellV2.. volumetric shaders?

is there any new volum shader or just shader improvments to doing things like volumetric fog? I remeber in v1.7 ppl where posting sss renders of objects inside cubes (link?) that rendered with volumetric look.. but where really grainy/noisy.. is this better in v2 due to speed or is there an acctual volumetric shader now?

or can any v2 beta testers/NL ppl point me to new examples of this.. it would be great to have a think tutorial on volumetric shaders for v2

Don't know about V2, but 1.7.1 CAN handle volumetrics:

Maxwell has never had volumetric shaders. What you see is objects inside a sss volume, which maxwell 2.0 is able to handle well. Now the sss controls have changed, and it requires a bit of experimentation to get the same results than in 1.7

what would i give to script shaders for maxwell and being able to set up 2d / 3d procedural shading networks .......

ok trying to reproduce this.. like in this thread:
http://maxwellrender.com/forum/viewtopi ... c&start=15
(page2, Renato Lemus: my turn post)

but coming accross some problems.. mainly.. maxwell crashes if ND is set below 1.163 WITH SSS ON

i faintly remember an early alpha that had atmospherics (fog) and therefore volumetric lights. i also remember a beta with bounce control :D

yolk: Yes the early Maxwell could render volumetrics but at the time wasn't really practical for day to day use - render time and noise!

yes i remember that alpha , but it was removed in the following update . As you said by that time it was not very practical.

yep i used alpha too.. and had hopes that one day it would return. .and w 1.71 examples was good to see..

Renato have you tried in maxwell v2 yet? what would sss coefficient be set to now? i have tried and in most examples I have it set to 2 or 4 (very low) here is test images w/ maxwel v2:

following your example from 1.7 thread: http://maxwellrender.com/forum/viewtopi ... c&start=15

getting a tad better results on sss vol look of light shadow...
made the balls a glass material w/ dispertion turned on for overnight test render fun.. SL 26.5 in 17.75hrs

new sss test will be setup to follow TOM's advice he posted on different topic..

again not my setup or Idea.. CREDIT goes to Renato Lemus for his 1.7.1 thread on this setup. .i just wanted to do a similar setup...
and now its super noisy since i turned on disspertion for fun of seing rainbow colors

3dtrialpractice: A nice test but as usual noise spoils the party!
