Hi everyone,

I am happy to announce that, in addition to using the RANCH renderfarm for your external rendering needs, you can now also buy your workstations, mobile renderfarms and even a self-cooled multinode supercomputer - the RANCH Runner - from us.
So whether you want to outsource your renderings or rather increase your internal computing power, we have a solution for you!

Very important: the RANCH hardware solutions are only available in Europe.

Hi,

I am happy to announce that the RANCH is now running with Maxwell Render 2.0. If you have projects to send, please make sure that you saved your scene with Maxwell 2.0, as the render output from Maxwell 2.0 will not look the same as in 1.7. To avoid bad surprises, it is important that you create your scenes in Maxwell 2.0 (or adapt 1.7 scenes to 2.0) before sending them to us.

To celebrate the release of Maxwell 2.0, we have decided to offer a 50% discount for all Maxwell projects between October 1, 2009 and October 31, 2009 (included). For instance, during this time period, if you render for one hour, you will be charged for only 30 minutes. That corresponds to 6 dollar cents ($0.06) per GHz-Hour, or 4.1 EURO cents (0.041) per GHz-Hour at the current exchange rate!

Happy rendering!

So what to do with rest of my refill amount? Will be ranch able to render my resaved (adjusted for same appearance) mxs files - maxwell studio v2 DEMO - without watermark?

Hi Martin,

in theory we are not allowed to render Maxwell projects if the user does not have an official license for the version we use. However this is a special case so we will ask Next Limit about it as soon as possible.

How is that btw? Aren't the licenses tied to computers, not people? I guess you could render any image and technically "sell" the image, right?

Software is tied to computers, licenses are "tied" to people ;) Consequently people are tied to computers...that's bad

Hahaha, brilliant. But in that case,

I should be able to use my licenses on as many computer I like then... unless their tied to computers aswell. Which I know they are.

No but really, it doesn't make sense. If Fred at ranch own his licenses, he should be able to render whatever he wants and sell the pictures. Which is what he does.

Otherwise, It would be like forcing my clients to own their own maxwell license if I render their products with the CAD-data they produced? Or where do we draw the line here?

To clarify the situation, Next Limit has a strict policy regarding commercial renderfarms. A Maxwell commercial renderfarm must check that a customer sending a project has himself a valid Maxwell license. That is to prevent people who are using illegal versions of Maxwell, or demo versions, to render projects on a commercial renderfarm. Now if a user has a 1.x license, but not a 2.x license, are we allowed to render a 1.x scene converted to 2.x with our 2.x versions? I do not know, but we will clarify this with Next Limit soon. Not simple, heh?

OK our Maxwell 2.0 party has begun :)

From today until October 31 (included), each Maxwell project gets a 50% discount based on time (you render for N minutes, you pay only for N/2 minutes).

This is our contribution to the release of Maxwell 2.0, with the hope that it will help people earn money quickly with this significant upgrade!

Hi,

I am happy to announce that we have decided to support Maxwell 1.7.1 as well as Maxwell 2.0! Considering that not everyone will upgrade to 2.0 soon, and mostly that v1 scenes needs to be redone (materials) to really show Maxwell 2 qualities, we have thought it would be better to give our customers the choice. So, when you submit a project, the form will let you choose the Maxwell version you want to render with (1.7.1 or 2.0). Maxwell V1 projects will appear in the RANCH waiting list as '.vu1' projects (instead of '.vum'), this is perfectly normal. But it does not change anything for you, just send a .vum archive, whether your project is V1 or V2.

Finally I remind you that you still have a week (until October 31, included) to benefit from our 50% discount on all Maxwell projects (V1 and V2).

Cheers,

Fred

@ marked001,
Very simple, you get the final merged MXI back, so you can do whatever you want with it on your system afterward. That way you will always have the original HDR data available when you need it, even several weeks or months after.

Fred
I'm just wondering when if rendering a high res MXI through Ranch and when the MXI is returned if there are the same Ram limitations of working with the MXI this end that might have limited one's own running of the render file!

I'm also interested in your answer to Brian's question on Having a file re-rendered higher res?
